What we collect
When you book, message us or use the customer portal we collect the details you provide: name, contact details, vehicle information, and a record of the work and communication we carry out for you. We only collect what we need to look after your vehicle and keep you informed.
Why we use it
We use your information to arrange and confirm bookings, carry out and invoice repairs, send maintenance reminders you have asked for, respond to messages, and meet New Zealand legal obligations (including WoF record-keeping). With your consent we may send offers or community updates — you can opt out at any time.
What we don't do
We never sell your information. We never share your address or personal details with other customers. We don't use your data for manipulative marketing. We respect New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 and the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007.
Marketing consent & opt-out
Every marketing message includes a way to stop receiving them, and you can update communication preferences in the customer portal or by telling Ash directly. Withdrawing consent never affects the service you receive.
How long we keep it
We keep booking, job and vehicle records as long as they are useful to serve you and as required for legal obligations such as WoF record-keeping and tax. If you ask us to delete your personal information, we remove what we can while retaining anything we are legally required to keep.
Security
Information is stored securely, access is role-based, and important actions are logged. Passwords are hashed and sessions are protected. Customer addresses are never shown to other customers.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask how it is used. To make a privacy request, contact us — we're a small local workshop and we answer personally. If you are not satisfied you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
